I am feeling positive so thought I would write something positive for once.

Spring is around the corner and I can’t wait.

2016 was a difficult year but I look forward with optimism for a positive 2017.

The planning is soon to be heard and I think after all the discussion we look forwards to a good outcome for everyone who has this village’s best interests at heart.  The business will go on and the villagers who have campaigned well against protecting themselves from noise impact will hopefully move on too and in relative peace.  I think it will be a good outcome.

We have lots of new plans in store for when the pub opens more fully from Easter.  Ideas are ideas and generally everything is done for the greater good.  As ever I ask my regulars for their opinion and they duly oblige.  Without feedback and good communication, it takes longer to realise how things are perceived and I would hope we all want a good village pub.  I always want people to talk to me and enjoy logical and fair minded discussion.  I can learn faster too.

Anyway, just wanted to say thanks for all the people that have helped us over the past months.  That obviously includes our local customers who have helped keep the pub alive over the winter.

One beautiful thing that we all think is that the pub feels good now.  It’s a happy place, food is good, staff are good, I feel good and my wife is good too.  We are far more rested and feel better for that.  I have energy for the forthcoming season and a defibrillator just outside, just in case.  Yippee.
