Our Self Pour Journey
Try our unique pub experience!

Our new bar setup brings a brand new experience to our pub.
By installing Pour My Beer's flow technology, our visitors can now enjoy a brand new 'bar tender' experience by getting behind the bar, using a pre-paid drinks card and testing their beer pouring abilities. We believe this a first and only 'get behind the bar experience' for a public house and I do like doing something new!
By having this technology we will now be able to open the pub when previously closed. Alongside our micro-market, the pub will now offer an all week, all day, accessibility to hot and cold drinks, food and snacks for people to enjoy when exploring this outpost in the Lincolnshire Wolds, either inside or outside in our lovely gardens or taken away on 'the footsteps of Kolkr' trail when the sun shines.
With at least one of us on site all the time, it will enable us to monitor the bar, create some snacks and generally be around looking after the place. Visitors will be able to easily access food and drink, from morning to evening.
Update May 1, 2025
Our pour your own beer experience has now been running for just under a month, an I have to say, I absolutely love it.
Some surprising benefits are probably where there was concern: would there be a scrum behind the bar? Well absolutely none of it, even when very busy over Easter. Although people can see how busy the bar is at any one moment the main reason is its so fast compared to waiting for bar staff, for them to pour, for them operate the till, enter drinks, take a payment and so on. With self pour, nip in, pour your beer and done.
The uptake has been amazing. For most of our campsite guests who are here a couple of days or more, they love it. Its not only cheaper beer, its also fun, convenient and fast. A great holiday snap too.
For our more local customers, the young generation love it and some of the older generation love it too but some prefer to be served, even though its slower and costs a bit more, but that's OK.
For our business, it is really helping, and it needs to because margins are still tight and the economic moment is tough. Thus far, we are operating at a 30% saving compared to payroll from the same period in the previous year and this is despite the government increasing payroll costs significantly this year. That means we are open and progressing which is great news for our area.
It means there is a countryside pub in the area that is open all day, everyday this summer. A very rural pub where people can come out and enjoy the countryside, regardless of when they feel like doing that.
Our next challenge is to get more local people engaging, as that is the key to being able to offer a service in the winter. So please help us spread the word.
